FWP Set with submerged lift pumps

Project

To protect the oil and gas facilities in the Battery Pier area in the event of an incident, the Isle of Man Government, had to upgrade the existing fire fighting system, requiring a dedicated fire water pump system. The challenge in this project was that the only available space to install the fire water pump system was adjacent to a main road, which blocked access to open water. Fischcon has developed a diesel-hydraulic solution where submerged hydraulic driven lift pumps feed the fire water to the diesel driven main pumps, which in turn supply the fire water downstream to the fire main ring.
